International Museum Day: Museum of Islamic Art
The Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem opened for the public in 1974 and holds one of the world's largest and foremost collections of Islamic art and antiques today. The attraction was founded by many scholars and researches alike.
Faced with the challenge of bridging the gap between cultures in the Islamic traditions, the Museum of Islamic Art maintains a magnificent collection of artworks dating from the 7th to 19th century. The works include a full scope of Islamic art, including manuscripts, ceramics, metal, glass, ivory, textiles, wood, and precious stones. Even the architecture of the museum is well known.
International Museum Day is set to be held on Wednesday, May 18th. In recognition of this important holiday the Museum of Islamic Art is going to offer free admission for the day. The Museum of Islamic Art is known as a sacred destination for those who are dedicated to the religion as well as interested tourists alike.
In addition to the traditional exhibit, the Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem is going to be holding a Watches and Clock collection of the International Museum Day. The exhibit will feature timepieces that feature a beautiful and rare collection. The collection holds over 180 watches, and is said to be "ground breaking."
