The Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem
The Jerusalem Feast of Tabernacles, which is one of the seven annual Biblical pilgrimages, is set to be held in the historical city October 13-19. The seven-day holiday is based on remembrance, celebration, and prayer.
The Biblical pilgrimage festival of the Feast of Tabernacles—also known as Booths or Sukkot—is the Jewish holiday of Thanksgiving, during which acknowledgment of the fall harvest and God's provision for them is given. The holiday will be held October 13-19. Pilgrims travel to Jerusalem to celebrate the harvest and worship God. There is much eating, drinking and cause to be merry.
This holiday is also the time to reflect on the Israelites deliverance from Egypt, and for the seven-day feast, people build small booths made from plaited branches and thatched roofs. During the Feast of Tabernacles, meals are eaten in the booths and some families sleep there. Special prayers and blessings are given throughout the week.
Non-Jewish people are also welcome to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
